Eat in (possibly local seafood cooked by you in the kitchen or on the BBQ) or eat out at one of the nearby restaurants and return to the deck over the ocean where you will appreciate the drawing to an end of yet another memorable day!

And, if the sun is willing, view the splendour of one of the loveliest sunsets imaginable. Harbour seals, River Otters, Mink, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons and Belted Kingfishers are frequently viewed from the patio while Orcas, Pacific White-sided Dolphins, Dalls Porpoise, Minke Whales, Humpback Whales and Gray Whales are occasionally seen. Binoculars provided!

There is excellent bird watching in the fall, winter and early spring months from inside the suite but especially so from the deck outside.

Testimonials

Ever since we saw the photo of the patio above the sea we couldn't wait to get here. But " On the Beach" is even more beautiful than we expected. We enjoyed sitting on the patio, looking out to sea and watching for animals. The most wonderful experience though, was "sailing with the whales". We wouldn't have thought it possible to see so many orcas so close. You have created a special personal atmosphere on the sailing boat that makes us feel welcome and at ease. Thank you very much for your kindness and hospitality. E & J Wagner, Germany

What a beautiful restful place! Within the first few minutes of our arrival eagles soared overhead and the flower garden patio had us pulling up chairs just to watch the sea and mountains. You were the perfect hosts. The beach combing for sea glass and driftwood is tops. We could have stayed for much longer and we will be back. The people of Alert Bay are so friendly we were recharged and comfortable in minutes.

A great standard of accommodation in a perfect setting, what Hotel could offer this? The U'mista Cultural Centre is well worth a visit to put everything in historical context.

The boat trip was great, not just because of the whales, but because of the personal touches, especially the edible ones and D & M's enthusiasm. T & A Birch, England

What a beautiful spot you live in! We really appreciate your efforts to aid the environment, on the boat and in the suite - we share conservation passions! We had a great time on the MV Cetacea and hope to come back to sail another time. We are glad we found you! G & B Owens, WA, USA
